Dear Brethren,
Hello. So good to find a little time this morning. I thought, I write a note
before I hit the road again and hope to finish it. I plan to visit the prison
(Medium and Maximum compounds) this morning . And then proceed to Calamba,
Laguna in the afternoon to visit brethren whose house was demolished. At night I
will join bro.Moises Gonzales in a Bible study in Sto.Tomas, Batangas. I also
hope to visit a brother who had a mild stroke in the next town of Tanauan,
Batangas. My problem with these trips is the gas cost plus toll fees that went
high recently.

Tomorrow, I have scheduled a whole day bonding time with three (3) families. It
will be where the goats are in Cahafi, Indang, Cavite. We will just be together.
Well, I told them about the river where we go to cool off when we visit the
area.(No entrance fee). There will be a BAPTISM tomorrow also.

On Saturday, a seminar to be conducted by “woman missionaries” on how to have a
tutorial center is scheduled from 10am-4pm. We are recipient of a “kit” (lesson
plan/materials and other benefits) and so we need to attend said seminar. I am
also encouraging others to attend a seminar this Sunday on friendship evangelism
and seminar for new mothers in the same venue. Again problem is gas money, venue
is in the other side of the metropolis.

I need fund to do all these. I am so frustrated when I can’t do what I want to
do because of having no fund. I have been intentionally limiting my activities
due to having not enough funds to travel. I guess I will not be held liable BUT
I just don’t like the idea of missing opportunities of serving and teaching.

Many activities just went by:
April 1-Sports Fest in Pasay City
April 5- Church Planting Institute 1st graduation ceremonies.
April 7-visit to Batangas and had meeting with our fieldworkers.
April 8-2nd Sports Fest in Pasay City
April 9- Door knocking (should have attended but had to meet older sister with
her scouts at the airport).
April 10-Mini medical mission at Metro South. Fellowship lunch in honor of
graduates and honor students.
April 12-Meeting with Cooperative Board of Trustees.
April 16- Door Knocking and Preachers’ meeting in Tagaytay.
April 18-19VBS, 6 sessions, in four locations with “women missionaries” from
Kansas.(Pls see pictures).An approximate of 200 kids were taught of God’s
word.(lesson from Jonah). Non-Members Bible class was taught by Rose Shady. TWO
YOUNG PEOPLE WERE BAPTIZED.
April 20-23-METRO-WIDE YOUTH CAMP. EIGHT (8) WERE BAPTIZED.ONE IS FROM METRO
SOUTH.
April 20-21-Attended a regional fellowship in Pangasinan and also visited Bible
campsite in the region.
April 24- Preached in Calamba, Joint worship of three congs. Also preached in
Calauan, Laguna in the afternoon.
April 26-Co-worker reported 5 baptisms in Lucena, City Quezon.
April 27-Wife and I assist 2nd son to be enrolled at University of the
Philippines in Los Banos, UPLB. He is finally enrolled yesterday. He had 2
offers of scholarships in 2 prestigious universities but we don’t want to
pressure him to maintain scholarship in those schools. We ended up paying 20,000
pesos (around $500) for his enrollment at UPLB. He plans to become an engineer and help me later put up a school where we can offer secular courses and the Bible. UPLB has a very good
reputation in the country. A graduate from the school can attract enrolees
later in a college we start, Lord willing.
May 1-I preached at The Orchard Church of Christ at 7AM worship.

Dear Brethren,

Greetings to all.

Many things are going on since I last wrote you. I always intend to write at the end of the month or the first days of the month but many things as usual have overtaken me.

One of those that kept us busy was our graduation on the 5^th of April. Finally, after four (4) years of operation as a training school, we graduated four. We started with four students. But these four are not the same with the four who first enrolled. In fact only one of that batch made it. As if only one student for every batch made it to the graduation. I suspect that I was too strict to our students that a little problem dis-qualified them in the program. But I can’t be blamed (?), it is hard enough to raise fund for their scholarship and so when they misbehaved I tend to just send them home and no longer waste the Lord’s money for their training. On the other hand, maybe it was the right thing to happen, as of now, two of our four graduates are still waiting for an opportunity when and where to plant a church. It’s not because they are not ready but because they don’t have the fund yet. (You see, we had advertised that we will help our graduates plant churches where there are none. And that we had started livelihood program four years ago (like piggery and goat raising) that was intended to help support our graduates, but we are not that successful yet in those endeavors, maybe in the future). Our OPTION NOW IS TO FIND BRETHREN WHO MAY WANT TO HELP SUPPORT OUR GRADUATES PLANT CHURCHES. IF YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO SUPPORT TO DO THE LORD’S WORK, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH US. Our four year operation was really a learning experience for us in the teaching and administration staff.

For other news, let me share with you the following: Just recently , April 3, a husband and wife in their later years were baptized. I had a Bible study with them years back but they didn’t see any need for them to become just Christians. I am glad they see the need this time. (Pls. see picture).

Another new congregation was started in Sto.Tomas, Batangas (about 2 hour drive from my place). They have been worshiping for three consecutive Sundays now. A “born-again” family became discontented of their group and since the husband and wife were students of WBS in the past, they decided to look for us. Bro.Moises Gonzales, CPI teacher and member of our preaching team was contacted and made the arrangement for us to meet them. We hold Bible study in their house every Thursday night.

We just ended classes at CPI (I used to teach every Tuesday). I continue to do our prison ministry in the Maximum compound and Medium compound of the Bureau of Corrections every Wednesday. We also have ended classes at PIBI-Batangas but we still go there every Thursday for evangelism purposes. On Fridays, I do whatever is to be done, sometimes we do “special” door knockings. On Saturdays, I attend meetings and fellowship with preachers in Metro Manila area. And we also have our own meetings with preachers in the Cavite area. I was sent to the province early part of March to do Leadership seminar, Goat rising seminar and Vermi Culture seminar.

As for the churches we are assisting, I have these to report: METRO SOUTH cong.(we are members of this cong.) , just had a medical mission in our meeting place. Children were checked and given medicines. We also hope we can have prospects as a result. SALAWAG CONG.(We worshipped with them every other Sunday).We are trying to recover from a problematic situation. They lost their preacher and I am assisting them now until they find another. We’ll have a VBS there this Wednesday up to Saturday. CALAMBA, PARIAN CONGREGATION is in a better situation. It was planted more than a year ago and served by our CPI student (now a graduate), who received a “Church Planter” award. They continue to grow. PIELA cong. is served by one of our CPI students who received a leadership award in our closing exercises. They continue to increase in number. A “cooperative” or peoples’ organization was formed there first. We are now trying to register it with the government. General Trias cong. Continue to strive. Two of our CPI first year students lead the work there. Very limited opportunity. Very poor condition. The same situation is the BAUAN CHURCH OF CHRIST.PIBI students go there on Sunday afternoon to assist in their worship services. CALAUAN Church of Christ is also striving. It is a 3 hour drive from my place. She is served by one of our graduates who received the “Personal Evangelism” award. THESE DAYS, I HAVE PURPOSELY LIMITED MY PARTICIPATION WITH THESE CHURCHES BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE THE AMOUNT FOR GAS.I wish I can visit them more often.

OUR CPI students and graduates will be in “field work” this summer. This means they will be involved in the work with local churches. Those who are already serving congregations will continue doing the same and do more. We will be doing some door knocking and VBS as many as funds will allow us.

Christian Greetings.
I am writing on behalf of our school, Church Planting Institute It started last June, 2007.
We continue to thank God for this opportunity to help in the training of would-be-church planters. We are happy that God has allowed us to do this despite of the many limitations we have. We are grateful that some of you are part of the ministry.

We are now in our second semester, second year of operation. There are seven teachers at present.(Another Bert, Bert Patricio is leaving though for Singapore to do mission work. Bert Tupas left earlier for US).But we have new teachers in the persons of Bro.Jonathan Pagarao, and Jun Michael Pague. They are preachers in the area. They do volunteer jobs.(no pay).We only give 1,000 pesos for Jun Pague's fare allowance. He needs it.

Our building is now being constructed, and is financed by a donor.

But we need fund for students badly. There will be no school without the students and the teachers.

We only have five full-time students this time. Three are second years and two are first years. Some of our students dropped out for one reason or another. That's good because we eliminate those who are not really interested in Church Planting". But it is also sad and disappointing because they failed us in our expectations.

We have a very limited fund for our students and one "paid" faculty. We now have a deficit of 25,666.00 pesos (around $500.00) as of this date. We have more expenses before the semester ends in March . I will appreciate it much, if there are brethren who can help us.

Aside from the classroom instruction that the students get, we also continue to provide them as many experiences as they could have in the ministry.All five students have weekend preaching schedules. They report to congregations and do personal evangelism, lead devotionals. They are preachers and song leaders on Sundays, and teach Bible studies. We pray that they will become able and dedicated church planters in the future.

Brothers and Sisters,

Greeting. We like to introduce to you the
preacher’s training school in Dasmarinas,
Cavite. (an hour drive from Manila.).It’s
Asian Institute of Church Planting (AICP).

In 2007,some preachers started the Asian Institute of
Church, Planting (AICP),in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
The same group of preachers also started a branch in
Rosario, Batangas in the same year .

For a semester the school in Batangas operated
as an extension of AICP.Later, it was agreed
that it will be absorbed by PIBI under the
directorship of bro. Charles Smith,who also
directs and supports three more of the same
school in other parts of the country.

This is now the second year of operation of
the school in Dasmarinas. There are six (6)
full-time students and two (2) part-time
students.We have seven teachers,mostly
are volunteers.

The school has needs, like students allowances
some teachers’ salary and traveling allowances,
office needs,etc.This is the reason why we appeal
to the brotherhood to  please assist us in this
very noble endeavor. We need to produce preachers
who will do church plantering in the near future.
We need to train would-be-preachers  or else
preachers will be in the list of"endangered species"
later.(Or is it already?).

We appeal to our brothers and sisters to please
help us in this mission.We need partners in order
to complete the training of the students who have
dedicated their lives to the ministry.

FIELD TRAINING BEGINS

Asian Institute of Church Planting "Field Training"

Beginning August,2008, our students will have their "Field Training" in different congregations on Fridays up to Sundays. This means, our students will report to designated congregations where they will partner with preachers and leaders. They will be involved in evangelism, visitations, youth activities,and participate in Sunday services.

This program is beneficial to the students for the experience they will have in the field. Also this will be beneficial to the local congregation who will have them for they will have a help in the local work.

BCPJR REPORTS APRIL 08 ACTIVITIES

The first days of May were busy days for me. May 1, was the Church outing for Metro South Church of Christ. May 2-3, was the First Family Camp of the Batangas churches. (I was one of the speakers. It ended with ten (10) baptisms.) And May 4, was Sunday, and my father’s birthday.(father and mother are with us vacationing. Father is suffering from asthma).

My major activities for the month of April are the following:

1. I was the officer of the day for the two-day gathering of Philippine Bible College alumni on April 4-5.

2.I was re-elected to the Board of Trustees. I first thought of quitting but I just can’t turn my back from serving
3.Attended the Philippine Bible College graduation on April 5. Four (4) of our students from Makati and Cavite graduated the Assosiate in Theology degree. My son, Shervin, did not complete the units to graduate. He enrolled outside the Bible College for a semester and thus missed some subjects for that semester.
4.Got involved in Church building improvements in Las Pinas, Salawag, Pasig and in Piela..(Please see attached pictures or see them in our BLOGSPOT).
5.We had door knocking campaign in Las Pinas on April 22, where 62 people were enrolled to the WBS and 11 Home Bible studies were set up.
6.Accompanied three (3) Korean brothers for a week.
7.Had special meeting with Metro Manila leaders about our locally supported radio program that will resume soon.
8.On the process of assisting the land transfer of a land bought by brethren( a pice will be given for school use) and also we are preparing for the school building construction.
9.Together with our fieldwork supervisor I help oversee the fieldwork of our students at Asian Institute of Church Planting and Church Growth (AICPCG) and at Phil. Int’l. Bible Institute- Batangas. (PIBI-B) (.Report of fieldworkers is attached or is in our BLOGSPOT).
Also met with Cavite preachers and talked about common works. We’re preparing for National Youth Camp that we will host in 2010.
10. I also assist the young people of Metro Manila in their Sports Fest for four Fridays.

MARCH 2008 UPDATE

Hello. It’s summer time in the Philippines . This means, aside from the warm weather, it’s time for schools’ closing, church fellowships, retreats and youth gatherings.

At Asian Institute of Church Planting and Church Growth, (AICPCG),we closed the semester with five full-time first year students and two apprentices. Four of our full-time students have been with us since the opening of the school. And so we hope that in one more year they will complete a two-year course, an Associate degree. For two more years they will be trained to do church planting.
One of the five full-time came to us in the second semester. (His congregation helps to support him partially).The other two came from another school but need more training and more Bible subjects. So, we made arrangement with Imus congregation for them to work as apprentices in their congregation while they are enrolled in three subjects at AICPCG. We hope to have new students in the opening of school this June if we get enough funds from supporters. We also hope to move into another temporary place this June. We’ll keep you updated.

At the Philippine International Bible Institute-Batangas, (PIBI-B), we closed the semester with sadness because one of the teachers, Jules Ryan S. Jones passed away unexpectedly. He died of heart attack on March 10 and was buried on March 15. (Please read my attached article about him).
Sixteen (16) of our eighteen (18) students survived the semester. As far as I know they are all willing to continue if we pass them all. They are all going to spend two-month fieldwork with congregations in the area. The school is being supported through bro.Charles Smith who directs four of this kind of school in the Philippines .

Last March 19-22, we had our Metro-Wide Youth Bible Camp. This time, ten congregations served as hosts. We divided, responsibilities among the congregations. It’s easier. I ended up as a driver for the camp and chairman of the logistics committee. Also, I spoke twice during the camp, first was to college and young professionals and later to high-schoolers.
It’s expensive to send our youth to the camp but we’re happy we managed. (It would have been easier if we have sponsors for our youth).

On March 21, in the middle of our Youth Camp, I had to escape, travel for more than an hour to be able to speak to another group of brethren. I was a speaker too of a regional fellowship. I was told they had 400 registered attendees. I tried to finish the day’s program and then went back to the camp.

Coming back to Manila was another experience. One of the vehicles used by our youth had problems. And we had to assist them through out the journey. (My whole family was with me through the Camp and the ordeal of traveling with defective vehicle).

One thing good after the camp is the news of young people being baptized in their congregations. Five were reported to have been baptized in Taguig. Also, our youths are fired up in organizing activities for this summer. (Our son, Shervin helps organize inter-congregational basketball games)

I finally brought inside National Penitentiary the materials for the cooperative store of the brother-inmates. We hope they will be successful in running a store inside.

I guess, this is enough news. It’s hard to type using just my left hand. I had one little accident last night, I crushed (or smashed) my right ring finger when I closed the vehicle’s door. Nail is badly damaged. I had three injections. ugghh. I was also advised to go to an orthopedics for possible bone damaged in my finger. But I didn’t, and I am still okay. I stayed home the whole day, and finished my report. Wow!

AICPCG STUDENTS AND TEACHERS EVANGELIZE

The school, Asian Institute of Church Planting and Church Growth (AICPCG) was started with the mission to equip workers to plant churches in places where there are no churches, but it is not expected that it will serve its purpose this early in its existence.

The school was invited to open campus in Rosario, Batangas in its first year of operation. Teachers were hesitant to do that because of the many limitations, like the lack of fund and the distance of course. But they thought it all over. The school as planned will be a means to reach Batangas and other adjacent areas.And since there was an opportunity to reach the area with the gospel and so they thought, why not now?

The first ten students are mostly non-members. (It is understandable since there are not so many Christians in the area yet.).But after more than a month four (4) of the students, (Felipe Asilo, Ronaldo Asilo, Randy Marcelo, Norman Mangubat, Jeffrey Moises), were baptized on July 19, 2007. Another one, Eleazar Bae, was baptized on August 30.

Three (3) of the students, father and son, Felipe and Ronaldo, and Norman are from the same place, Itlogan, a suburb of Rosario. And so, teachers and Batangas preachers Moises Gonzales and Jules Jones started home Bible studies in the area which were attended by neighbors and relatives of the students. The same group later on attended worship services of the church in Rosario, Batangas.

After months of Bible studies, fifteen (15) decided to be baptized last Sept.20. And so on the said date, teachers went to the area, had a devotional and assisted those who were baptized.
There are more who wanted to be baptized
but can not do it at that time for one reason or another. (Let’s keep praying for their baptism soon).

Meanwhile, in Dasmarinas, Cavite, the students lead by teachers Bert Patricio and B.C. Patricio Jr., do evangelism every Tuesday afternoon in Piela, a suburb of Dasmarinas. Three home Bible studies with groups are going on. Visitation and prospecting are also done by the three teams.

Teachers and supporters are to be commended for this evangelism effort. Teachers are; Rolly Abaga, Moises Gonzales, Jules Jones, Roberto Patricio, B.C. Patricio Jr , Neptali Sico, and Wilbert Tupas,. (Bro.Doming Camag-anacan serves as assistant teacher. Bro.Jeff Sico is our dormitory supervisor in Dasmarinas, Cavite).

At present our supporters are; Gordonville Church of Christ, Tx., Bro. and sis. Loreto Bianan of Pa.,USA. Dollie Jones, of USA, Randy and Helen Abaga and the brethren in their congregation in Winipeg,Canada. Our supporters here are concerned Cavite and Batangas congregations and individuals. Dear Brethren,

Greetings.May I update you about the teachers and students and our future plans. Below are resumes of the teachers. Please check it out.

We now have Six (6) full-time, three (3) part-time students in Dasmarinas, and nine (9) full-time students in Batangas . (One student in Dasmarinas quit. Another one in Batangas also quit because of his family responsibilities). Dasmarinas students go to Piela , Dasmarinas every Tuesday afternoon with teachers Jun Patricio and Bert Patricio to do door knocking and hold home Bible studies. This is part of their training.

We pray that the remaining students will finish their training and will take the challenge of planting churches in CALABARZON.

We are planning to start our first church planting mission in San Juan, Batangas, this coming October. Students have been taught in classes and trained in the field to do campaigns.We pray that by October they can already help in church planting.
